Island Nature Trust: Voices for Biodiversity

Prince Edward Island's ecological history runs deep, and its future is still being written. Habitat loss and ongoing biodiversity challenges are putting pressure on the species and landscapes that make this Island home. Voices for Biodiversity invites Islanders to learn and help shape what comes next. On September 23, from 3-5 pm at the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre, Island Nature Trust is hosting a community engagement event that will foster knowledge-sharing, collective visioning, and action for biodiversity conservation in Charlottetown and PEI. Local environmental organizations, educators, and community members will come together to explore the Island's ecological history, current biodiversity challenges, and opportunities for collaborative environmental action. The event features informational booths hosted by local conservation organizations, a rotating speaker series with short presentations on PEI's biodiversity, past and present, and a collaborative art activity inviting participants to envision a thriving, biodiverse future for the Island and the partnerships that can support that future. Voices for Biodiversity aims to strengthen community connections, offer hope and support to Islanders experiencing climate anxiety, amplify the work of local environmental organizations, and encourage greater civic participation in environmental stewardship. Admission is free, and all Islanders are welcome.
