A Victorian-themed experience is bringing history, tea and storytelling together at The Haviland in downtown Charlottetown. Tea & Tales was launched in 2026 to commemorate the 190th anniversary of the birth of Esther Lowden, one of Prince Edward Island's earliest female entrepreneurs. Inspired by her story, the two-hour experience combines traditional morning or afternoon tea with historical storytelling, occasional live music and the setting of one of Charlottetown's heritage buildings. For Islanders, Tea & Tales offers a chance to learn about the stories connected to a historic house many pass by every day. For visitors, it offers another way to learn about PEI's history while having sandwiches, scones and desserts, tea, and coffee. Following interest from guests who were unable to attend weekday sessions, Tea & Tales has added Saturday sessions to its remaining season. Upcoming weekend sessions take place at noon on September 5 and 19, with sessions at 10 am and 2 pm on October 3 and 17. Tea & Tales will continue through the end of October.
