Telescope Viewing at UPEI Observatory

The Department of Physics invites the public to visit the Earl L. Wonnacott Observatory this fall to look through the department's telescope on October 3 from 8-10 pm. The telescope will be pointed at various objects of interest: the moon, planets, stars, nebula, and galaxies, depending on the date and sky conditions. Meet in room 417 of Memorial Hall. There will be some astronomy activities and information for a variety of ages to peruse while waiting for a turn to go up to the observatory. In the event of cloudy weather, this event may have to be postponed or canceled. Check projects.upei.ca/astronomy for updates by 10 am on the day of the event. An elevator can be taken up to room 417, but it is necessary to climb stairs up one floor to the roof and into the observatory to reach the telescope.
