Twenty-five years ago, an online publication shared the untold stories of PEI women's arts, crafts, and culture of the twentieth century. First Hand was researched and written by public historians in modules focused on Mi'kmaw baskets, photography, visual arts, quilting, rug hooking, and literary writing. The Chairs Circle for Gender Equality invites the public to revisit this project a quarter-century later at the Faculty Lounge at UPEI on October 2, in celebration of Women's History Month. A reception, demonstrations, and displays will begin at 4:30 pm. A panel discussion will start at 6 pm to consider what has changed for women and non-binary artists and artisans in the last 25 years. This event is supported by InnovationPEI Community Cultural Partnerships.
